Command wanted to see progress so they are going into those habitats which seemed clear enough. Obviously someone had to say that things aren’t looking that bad which was followed by inquisitive questions on why habitat Y38 was not in our hands yet. I bet they uplinked that situation to higher control which is now denying any relief. Let’s grunt on.

Today is no good day. While command presses on, longing for quick success our recon squad is pinned down by a new threat. We’ve seen and held those back before. But it is very unlikely that those were the only ones in this weird theatre.

We are still going deeper into the habitats. Heretics was the word a comrade was using. We did have occasional encounters in the last days. But nothing severe. Apart from the voices in the air. And the snarls in the sewers. In the resting hours we try to sleep. My #lhostick pack is empty. We continue, two by two, sweeping each single floor of each single complex. Command can’t tell us where to search.

We enter the apartment district. The decay is the herald of the imminent danger to come. And we are not the first to see the inner life of the abandoned apartments. Disturbing signs mark the walls like scars. Some seem irritatingly liquid, like if the walls were bleeding. In M Squad they had to drag out a comrade.
We make camp, as good as it gets, smoking a lhostick, drinking something mind-clearing.
