Wall Section U221 – Day 420
High Command finally made a decision. The 381st is entering the Inner Hive. After weeks of idleness. After weeks of hope and fear. Hope that we don’t have to go inside. Fear that the decision will come.

Waiting to go inside
Can you see it? Lurking in the dark? No? Have a second look. We are waiting to go inside. We don’t know what’s inside. There’s sections of the inner hive which were abandoned for generations. Even the gangs wouldn’t go inside. Now High Command tells us that there’s strategical objectives in the gloom. I assume they’ll send in recon in the next few days.

Gnarl Attack
We don’t know where it started and we don’t know when it started. They came out of nowhere. Until now the war was a distant thing happening somewhere but here. We only knew what was said in the radio. When the first shell hit no-one was prepared. And when we realized what was attacking the horror crawled down our backs. Like long icy fingers making you shiver. The stomach turning upside down. Terror was in everyone’s eyes. Those who fled into the hills haven’t been seen since.

They know what lies ahead. They are quiet. They communicate with hand signs. It took a while for the German pilot to understand his allies. But it has worked last night and will work tonight as well. The moon makes it easy to see them move. But it also reveals them.
